Food and

Wellbeing in the Comino Valley

Pecorino di Picinisco PDO, cannellini beans PDO and Cabernet Atina PDO wine, truffles from Campoli: visiting the Comino Valley means discovering old-fashioned flavours through excellent local products, which are the fruits of an age-old knowledge.

Ancient food traditions that created the so-called “typical” food delicacies, but made to be environmentally friendly and preserve the integrity of the territory, earning the Comino Valley the title of “Eco-region” from Lazio regional government, thus making it the ideal sustainable tourism destination.

One of the aims of the DMO “Ciociaria Valle di Comino” is to promote the products of the Comino Valley: food and wine experience tours have been designed, making you going through the picturesque villages and towns and meet local farms and producers ready to welcome tourists for workshops and food tasting sessions and make them to form an emotional bond with small local businesses.

It is a journey to uncover a rural environment unchanged in time and to recover the ancient tie with Mother Earth that in the Comino Valley can be traced back in the experiences going from food to the nature connected to it, enjoying a full immersion in the territory.

The tourist offer in the Comino Valley provides visitors with a wide range of activities such as the unique truffle hunting experience, the old-fashioned grape and fruit harvesting, carried out following the rhythm of the seasons, and to add more, the sensory walks to discover more about the herbs and scents you will later find in the food to taste.

Bathing in nature is the ideal activity for tourists who look for rebalancing their body and mind and for them the DMO “Ciociaria Valle di Comino” has developed projects making the Comino Valley the perfect place to practise yoga and meditation

Thanks to the collaboration with local wellbeing experts, nine locations were pinned on the map where it is possible to have mindful tourism experiences, some with indoor facilities that make them available throughout the year. The features of the Comino Valley and its geography make it a place perfectly meeting the demands of a growing tourism trend mirroring the search of modern tourists for spiritual, physical and mental wellbeing.
